Orientation
Orientation provides an opportunity for families and children to be introduced to the centres routines, other children and staff. It also allows the parents and staff to exchange information and develop a positive working relationship between families and the centre.
Orientation visits are made on days and times at the discretion of the Centre Director after considering the needs of the children currently attending the centre.
Seperation can be quite a difficult experience for some children. Bringing your child along prior to commencement will help them to become more familiar with their new surroundings and carers.
Some helpful suggestions on settling your child into care:
- Provide a favourite toy, blanket, comforter to support your child when separating from you, this can help them feel more secure.
- Try to talk at home about child care and the names of teachers, children and other fun activities they may participate in.
- Interact with staff members ensuring they are familiar with your child’s likes, dislikes and interests, which helps them get to know your child better.
- When leaving, say “goodbye”. Let your child know that you are leaving and if they are becoming a little upset don’t prolong the farewell. Hesitating to leave only confuses them. Reassure them that everything is alright and you will return later.
(Remember that once you are out of sight your child will be more likely to focus on the centres current activities.)
At Fidgety Frogs the preferred minimum booking of two (2) days is recommended to allow your children to benefit fully from our educational program. Children attending one (1) day often find it difficult to settle into care.
